According to the ODM National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), the violence was orchestrated by goons linked to Busia Governor Paul Otuoma.

The committee has condemned the incident, warning the county boss that stern action will be taken.

“We are monitoring the situation closely and appropriate measures will be taken against the perpetrators,” the NECC said in a statement.

ODM delegates further accused Governor Otuoma of attempting to derail the democratic process by deploying armed groups from Samia and Funyula to disrupt the elections.

“Instead of respecting democracy, he resorted to intimidation and violence. Goons under his command stormed the venue, disrupted proceedings, and injured delegates. The NECC must act,” the delegates said.

The party has assured members and supporters that it remains committed to safeguarding free and fair elections within its structures.
