The Kenya School of Government (KSG) recently hosted a high-level Fireside Chat themed “Youthful Voices for a Futuristic Public Service”, convened by Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya.
Broadcast live on NTV, the event brought together distinguished leaders including PS Fikirini Jacobs, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, KSG Director-General Prof. Nura Mohammed, CHRP Quresha Abdullahi, CPA Ben Kai Chilumo, Ms. Angela Mulinge, and CHRP Margaret Nguu. The dialogue created a platform for youth to share experiences, challenges, and expectations from government.
Key discussions revolved around integrity in public service, creating safe spaces for young professionals, and embracing generational shifts through meritocracy. Leaders underscored the importance of digital recruitment as a pathway to fairness and inclusivity in hiring processes.
The forum also spotlighted ongoing youth empowerment programs at KSG, including the Kenya We Want movement and the upcoming Transformative Young Leaders Program, aimed at grooming future public sector leaders.
Other issues addressed included modern and flexible work models, artificial intelligence skilling, mental health awareness, succession planning, and fostering positive workplace culture.
“This dialogue marks a critical step in reshaping policies for a more inclusive, ethical, and innovative public service that reflects the aspirations of the next generation,” Dr. Imbunya said.
The Fireside Chat reinforced the government’s commitment to engaging young people as active partners in building a future-ready public service.
