Nyamita Leads Ayacko in Migori Governor Race, Poll Shows

By John Kariuki
Uriri MP Hon. Mark Nyamita has taken an early lead in the Migori gubernatorial race ahead of the 2027 General Election, a new survey has revealed.
The poll places Nyamita at 41.9 percent support, edging out incumbent Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who garnered 34.6 percent. Undecided voters stand at 8.1 percent, a critical bloc that could sway the final outcome.
Nyamita’s advantage is credited to his strong grassroots presence and track record in Uriri Constituency, where he has spearheaded infrastructure development, youth empowerment programs, bursaries for needy students, and health and water projects. Analysts say his focus on tangible service delivery has resonated with voters who view him as a progressive, results-oriented leader.
Governor Ayacko, however, retains substantial backing and remains a formidable contender. His campaign is expected to intensify as both camps seek to sway undecided voters in the coming months.
The survey findings suggest a shifting political landscape in Migori, with Nyamita emerging as the early favorite to unseat the incumbent.
