PS Njogu Launches Youth Sensitization Forums on Global Job Opportunities

By John Kariuki
Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preparing young Kenyans to access international job markets through targeted sensitization programs.
Speaking in Mombasa County, PS Njogu led forums at the Bandari Maritime Academy and the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), engaging students and faculty on skills development, diaspora opportunities, and worker protection measures.
She emphasized that young people form the largest share of Kenya’s population, making it critical to equip them with the competencies and knowledge required to compete globally. “The government is prioritizing practical programs that connect Kenyan skills with international demand while ensuring the welfare and rights of Kenyans working abroad are safeguarded,” she said.
The sessions highlighted opportunities in the diaspora, the need for skills alignment, and the structures the State Department has put in place to safeguard Kenyans in foreign labor markets.
According to PS Njogu, the sensitization forums are part of a broader nationwide campaign aimed at empowering youth with resources and information to actively participate in Kenya’s diaspora growth agenda.
By spearheading the initiative, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs is positioning itself as a bridge between Kenya’s workforce and global opportunities, ensuring that citizens not only secure decent jobs abroad but also benefit from strong protection mechanisms.
The forums in Mombasa mark the first phase of the campaign, with similar outreach programs planned across the country in the coming months.
