Nairobi Majority Leader Threaten to Sue Blogger Nyakundi Over Publication

Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok has written a demand letter to controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi over what his legal team describes as defamatory publications assassinating Imwatok’s character.
Imwatok through advocate Brenda Kogai says that Nyakundi’s article was published in the most malicious manner to hurt the reputation, honour and his good standing.
‘’The said defamatory message was published in the most malicious manner to hurt the reputation, honour and standing of our client. The publication was done with the sole aim of scoring political scores and to make our client out to be seen as a political con man a fact you know very well to be false. Our client was clearly identified by name, description and his designation in the defamatory and scandalous headline titled ‘How Imwatok Pocketed Facilitation Fees Betraying Raila and Exposing Embattled Sakaja .Impeachment Threats’ You clearly defamed our client by accusing our client of financial impropriety, allegedly pocketing facilitation fees meant for Members of the County Assembly of Nairobi. You knew the sai statement to be false but went ahead to utter them thereby injuring oulr client’s reputation.’’ The letter reads in part.
In a letter Imwatok avers that the blogger has 3 days to act failure to which legal action will be taken against him.
Ll‘‘TAKE NOTICE that unless our client receivs an apology through the same medium used in defaming him within THREE (3) days and the above publication is immediately pulled down, we shall proceed to commence legal proceedings against you without further recourse at your own peril as to costs and other attendant risks and expenses’’ it continues.
