Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has restated her commitment to defending the Constitution, upholding the rule of law, and serving Kenyans without bias to government or opposition.

In a statement titled “Duty and Loyalty: A Call to Serve,” Odhiambo dismissed claims of her involvement in engagements with the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations, saying her only interaction was taking the oath of office.

“My allegiance is to the Constitution and the people of Kenya. I do not work for the government or the opposition,” she said.

The LSK President vowed to continue championing justice for victims of police brutality, condemning what she termed as unlawful prosecutions, profiling, and trumped-up terrorism charges against peaceful demonstrators. She urged the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to urgently review such cases and instead prosecute officers caught on camera using excessive force.

“I call on the ODPP to focus on trigger-happy officers who undermined the right to peaceful assembly,” Odhiambo said.

She further assured Kenyans that LSK will continue offering pro bono legal services to victims and survivors of police violence across the country.

Her remarks come amid public outrage over the handling of protests that left dozens dead, injured, or facing charges. Odhiambo’s firm stance has positioned the LSK as a key defender of constitutional freedoms and accountability in the wake of alleged state excesses.
