Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna inspected the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern Kakongo EPS Market, a Ksh 59 million project designed to boost economic activities and empower local traders.
The market will feature essential amenities, including a cold room for fresh produce storage, a mother’s room, social halls, an ICT hub, a printing room, a Sacco office, an ATM booth, and a kitchen. Once completed, it is expected to drive rural economic growth by supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“I lobbied for this market from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development to ensure our people have access to world-class trading facilities. This project will transform the economic landscape of Kakongo and beyond,” Hon. Nguna stated during the inspection.
In addition to economic development, Hon. Nguna reinforced his commitment to improving education infrastructure. He visited Kairungu Location to commission newly constructed classrooms at Kakongo Primary School, funded through the MW NG-CDF FY 2024/2025.

“This is part of my broader vision to enhance education standards. By investing in quality learning facilities, we are shaping a better future for our children,” he remarked.
Hon. Nguna urged residents to support these development initiatives, emphasizing the collective effort required to achieve lasting progress.
“With unity and hard work, we will create an empowered and self-sufficient community,” he concluded.
