Kenya and Switzerland Deepen Trade Ties in High-Level Talks

By John Kariuki
Nairobi, Kenya – The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), led by President Dr. Erick Rutto, hosted Swiss Ambassador Mirko Giulietti for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening trade and investment relations between Kenya and Switzerland.
A key focus of the meeting was the potential negotiation of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which could unlock new business opportunities, increase investment, and boost economic collaboration between the two nations. Plans are also in place for an inbound Swiss trade mission to Kenya, allowing investors to explore the country’s emerging market opportunities.
Beyond trade, discussions covered cooperation in tourism, finance, health, and education—sectors critical to Kenya’s economic growth. Switzerland’s strong financial sector and world-class education system offer valuable opportunities for collaboration.
Kenya also invited Switzerland to host a Country Pavilion at the WCF Africa Summit 2025, providing Swiss businesses with a platform to expand into African markets.
As Kenya continues to position itself as a regional trade hub, partnerships with key global players like Switzerland will drive sustainable economic development, attract foreign investment, and create new market opportunities for local enterprises.
