National Land Commission Defends Budget Before Parliamentary Committee

The National Land Commission (NLC), led by CEO Kabale Tache Arero, defended its Supplementary Budget Estimates No. II for the 2024/25 financial year before the Parliamentary Lands Committee at Parliament Buildings today.
Ms. Arero emphasized that the additional funding is crucial for land administration, compulsory acquisition compensation, and dispute resolution. She assured MPs that all financial adjustments adhered to fiscal responsibility guidelines.
Legislators raised concerns over land compensation delays, budget utilization, and pending land cases. The NLC attributed delays to legal disputes, valuation challenges, and bureaucratic processes but assured efforts to streamline payments.
