NGOs, Community Leaders Demand Urgent Action in Embakasi South and Mukuru kwa Reuben

Community leaders, NGOs, and advocacy groups gathered in Mukuru kwa Reuben to demand urgent government intervention over healthcare failures, recurring fires, water shortages, and unfulfilled promises affecting Embakasi South residents.
Led by Jubilant Stewards of Africa (JSA) and other local organizations, the forum called out poor service delivery, especially in healthcare. Jared Oundo, JSA Executive Director and 2027 Embakasi South MP aspirant, said:
“Residents are paying for healthcare they can’t access. Fires destroy homes, and water shortages persist. The government must act before it’s too late.”
Criticism was directed at the Social Health Authority (SHA) for failing to release hospital funds, leaving millions without care. UKCS Secretary General Tom Odege warned of nationwide protests if reforms are not made.
Leaders also raised alarm over frequent fires, lack of emergency services, chronic water shortages, and poor infrastructure. They urged both county and national governments to prioritize roads, drainage, and sanitation, while committing to peaceful political engagement ahead of 2027 elections.

“This is just the beginning,” Oundo declared. “If ignored, we will intensify our push for real action.”
Organizers plan to petition officials and maintain public pressure until solutions are found. For now, residents remain hopeful but wary.
