Clinical Officers Call Off Strike After Deal with Health Ministry

The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) has officially ended its strike after reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Health and Council of Governors. Clinical officers are expected to resume duty within 24 hours.

The deal, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding, addresses key concerns raised by the union.

Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa praised the clinical officers for their dedication and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery under Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“Constructive dialogue is essential in strengthening our health system. We urge clinical officers to resume duty as we pursue lasting solutions,” she said.

Council of Governors Chairman Ahmed Abdullahi emphasized collaboration to enhance healthcare services.

The agreement was signed by Principal Secretaries Mary Muthoni (Public Health) and Harry Kimtai (Medical Services) alongside other officials.
