Government Launches MSMEs Connect to Boost Sector Growth and Collaboration

The Cabinet Secretary for MSMEs, Hon. FCPA Dr. Wycliffe Oparanya, has officially launched MSMEs Connect, a Public-Private Dialogue platform aimed at transforming Kenya’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector.
Speaking at the launch, CS Oparanya emphasized that revamping the MSMEs sector is a top government priority, given its vital role in driving innovation, enterprise, and economic growth.
However, he noted that MSMEs face persistent challenges, including high informality, limited access to finance, low productivity, and climate change impacts. To address these, he called for strong collaboration between government and private sector stakeholders.
“This initiative marks a new era of partnership to create an enabling environment for MSMEs to thrive,” said Oparanya, adding that MSMEs Connect will be rolled out across all counties to foster dialogue and action.
He also urged youth to embrace entrepreneurship, highlighting upcoming KJET and NYOTA projects set to benefit over one million young people by June.
In closing, CS Oparanya encouraged MSMEs to participate in this year’s East African Trade Fair in Kenya, citing it as a valuable platform for networking and growth.
