Kenya has been ranked the fourth-best tourism destination in Africa at the 2nd UN Tourism Africa and Americas Ministerial Summit in Livingstone, Zambia. The recognition highlights the country’s strong recovery and growth in the tourism sector.

According to Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, Kenya recorded a 15% increase in international tourist arrivals in 2024, reaching 2.4 million visitors, up from 2.08 million in 2023. Tourism earnings also surged by 19.79%, rising from KSh 377.49 billion in 2023 to KSh 452.20 billion in 2024.

“Our aggressive marketing, diversified tourism products, improved flight connectivity, and digital adoption have made Kenya a leading destination,” said Miano.

Kenya’s ranking at the UN Tourism Summit solidifies its position as a top African travel destination. Miano expressed optimism for continued growth, targeting 3 million visitors and KSh 560 billion in tourism revenue by 2025.

With its diverse attractions, from wildlife safaris to cultural heritage and coastal experiences, Kenya continues to strengthen its global appeal through sustainable tourism and infrastructure development. The government remains committed to enhancing security and expanding markets to maintain the country’s competitive edge.
