Turning the Tide: Zamzam Mohamed Champions Women’s Economic Empowerment in Mombasa

By John Kariuki
Mombasa Woman Representative Hon. Zamzam Mohamed has reaffirmed her commitment to women’s economic empowerment by spearheading a transformative initiative that provided coconut oil filtration machines to local female entrepreneurs. The project, done in partnership with Hon. Tessie Mudavadi, TIKA’s Madam Yasemin, Ushiriki Wema, and Huduma Kenya, marks a significant step toward enhancing income-generating activities for women in the region.
“These machines are more than just equipment; they are tools of transformation,” said Hon. Zamzam. “They symbolize opportunity, dignity, and a brighter future for our women and their families.”
The machines are set to improve product quality, unlock new market opportunities, and foster financial independence among small-scale producers—creating a ripple effect across families and communities.
Hon. Mudavadi emphasized that investing in women entrepreneurs is essential for sustainable development, while Madam Yasemin praised the beneficiaries’ dedication and innovation.
This initiative is one of several led by Hon. Zamzam Mohamed as part of her broader agenda to uplift women in Mombasa through practical, strategic support. As she continues to forge partnerships and deliver solutions, her message is clear: empowered women build empowered communities.
