Githunguri MP Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba recently paid a courtesy call on Madam Zainab Bangura, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), in a meeting centered on governance, diplomacy, and advancing women’s leadership in Africa.
Madam Bangura, a respected diplomat and former health minister in Sierra Leone, also mentors emerging African leaders through the Amujae Initiative—founded by former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to empower women in public service. Hon. Wamuchomba was accompanied by members of the Amujae team, deepening the exchange with this influential network.
The leaders discussed the critical role of women in shaping resilient, inclusive societies, drawing from Madam Bangura’s firsthand experience leading systemic reforms and responding to public health crises.
“It was truly inspiring to learn from one of the continent’s finest,” Hon. Wamuchomba said. “Her journey proves that when women lead, societies flourish.”
