PCEA Banana Parish, Karuri Police Team Up for Environmental Action to Mark JPRC Week

Banana Township, Kiambu County — In a shining example of faith and service, PCEA Banana Parish partnered with Karuri Police Station on Saturday for a tree planting and clean-up exercise to mark the end of the church’s Justice, Peace and Reconciliation Commission (JPRC) Week.
The event, held under the theme of environmental stewardship and community unity, brought together church leaders, police officers, and local agencies in a coordinated effort to beautify and restore the Banana township area. The activities kicked off at Karuri Police Station with a strong turnout and a shared commitment to sustainability.
Leading the Parish delegation was Rev. Mary Muriuki, Parish Minister and Kiambu Presbytery Moderator, alongside Session Clerk Sarah Wanjiru and JPRC Patron Elder Jane Kamuto.
Speakers at the event emphasized the value of strengthening ties between faith institutions and law enforcement in addressing community challenges. “When the church and police work together, the community wins,” one participant remarked.
The event not only marked the culmination of JPRC Week but also set a hopeful tone for future partnerships aimed at fostering peace, justice, and environmental responsibility.
