Court Halts Muguna’s Tenure at Nairobi Water, Citing Unlawful Extension

It is a big blow to Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Nahasion Muguna this is after Employment and Labour Relations Court today stopped the extension of his tenure beyond mandatory retirement 60 years of age.
Muguna and the Company board was taken to court for what the Sheria Mtaani na Shadrack Wambui the Plantiff in the matter termed illegal.
Hon. Justice Hellen Wasilwa in her judgement said that the extension of Muguna’s tenure beyond mandatory retirement age is unlawful.
According to Sheria Mtaani’s advocate Shadrack Wambui the judgement is a landmark in the Labour practice and that it should serve as warning to public officers demanding extension of their terms in office.
“It is a good judgement and we Sheria Mtaani na Shadrack Wambui must applaud the Honourable Court for the landmark ruling.Muguna must exist as early as 28 May 2025 so that Nairobi City water and Sewage Company can start recruiting a new CEO.We have many youths with relevant skills and they must be given opportunity to also serve this great Nation.” Wambui told the media.
