Kiambu Woman Representative Ann Wamuratha has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots economic empowerment by supporting hundreds of entrepreneurs during Thika Empowerment Day. Held in Thika Town Constituency, the event focused on distributing income-generating tools such as motorcycles, sewing machines, turntables, pool tables, and car wash kits to local Sacco groups.

The initiative was led by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki and hosted by Thika MP Hon. Alice Ng’ang’a, drawing strong political backing from national leaders. Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale and Geoffrey Ruku, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and several MPs joined in the show of support.

“This is how we unlock opportunity—by placing the right tools in the hands of hardworking Kenyans,” said Hon. Wamuratha, who emphasized the importance of investing in women and youth for long-term economic growth.

The empowerment drive aligns with the government’s broader agenda to spur micro and small enterprise development as a pillar of inclusive prosperity. By supplying practical business equipment, the program aims to reduce unemployment, boost productivity, and raise household incomes.

Leaders also used the event to explore future partnerships and reaffirm their commitment to community-driven development. The turnout and energy at the event highlighted the growing recognition of small businesses as engines of local economic transformation.

“Thika Empowerment Day is more than an event—it’s a declaration that real development starts at the grassroots,” said Wamuratha.

With continued support from leaders like Ann Wamuratha and coordinated efforts across all levels of government, Kiambu’s entrepreneurs are well-positioned to thrive.
