Kakamega county Speaker James Namatsi Urges Legislative Action to Drive Kakamega’s Infrastructure and Economic Growth

Kakamega County Assembly Speaker Hon. James Namatsi has called on Members of the County Assembly to champion legislation that delivers tangible development outcomes for residents, particularly in infrastructure, youth empowerment, and local economic growth.
Speaking during a strategic session at the Assembly, Speaker Namatsi underscored the importance of aligning county laws with real community needs. He urged members to support evidence-based policies that fast-track road improvements, bolster youth-led agribusinesses, and strengthen market systems to stimulate rural economies.
“Our legislative agenda must be anchored in data and designed to solve real problems,” said Namatsi. “We owe our people progress they can see and feel.”
The Assembly is currently advancing bills focused on road upgrades, support for small enterprises, and safeguarding public assets. Namatsi also emphasized the need for inter-county collaboration to harmonize laws, reduce redundancies, and maximize impact.
“We must embrace legislative unity across counties to ensure coherent and impactful development,” he added.
The session reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive governance and responsive leadership, with a focus on creating grassroots opportunities that promote sustainable growth across Kakamega.
