Kakamega Leaders Unite to Celebrate Life of Veteran Educator Mama Rose Nechesa Sakwa

Lubinu, Kakamega County – A deep sense of loss and reverence filled the air today as the Rt. Speaker of the Kakamega County Assembly, Hon. James Namatsi, joined H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa and hundreds of mourners in paying their final respects to the late Mama Rose Nechesa Sakwa.

The emotional ceremony, held in Lubinu, Mumias East Sub-county, honoured the life and legacy of Mama Rose, the beloved mother of Mr. James Wakungwi Sakwa, Chairperson of the Kakamega County Public Service Board. A veteran teacher, Mama Rose dedicated 34 years of her life to education, mentoring generations and transforming lives through her passion for learning.

Hon. Namatsi offered heartfelt condolences and prayed for strength, comfort, and peace for the bereaved family. “Mama Rose’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched,” he said.

Governor Barasa, who led the county delegation, praised Mama Rose for her commitment to community and family, describing her as a pillar of wisdom and service. “Her selflessness and dedication as an educator reflect the true spirit of leadership and sacrifice,” he noted.

Also present was Mumias East MP, Hon. Peter Salasya, who joined fellow leaders, family members, and residents in celebrating Mama Rose’s impactful journey.

As Kakamega continues to mourn one of its great matriarchs, the ceremony served not just as a farewell, but a powerful reminder of the enduring influence of educators in shaping society.
