SasaPay and AMSEA-K Launch Trader Welfare Program to Secure Mombasa’s Small Businesses

By John Kariuki
Mombasa, August 20, 2025 — Thousands of small traders in Mombasa are set to benefit from an innovative financial protection scheme following the launch of the Trader Welfare Program by SasaPay in partnership with the Association of Micro and Small Enterprises Association of Kenya (AMSEA-K).
The program introduces affordable health and funeral insurance, addressing a long-standing gap that has left many traders vulnerable to financial shocks. Through SasaPay’s digital platform, premiums can now be paid in flexible, manageable installments via paybill, removing the burden of high upfront costs and ensuring more traders can access essential coverage.
The initiative is further strengthened by a partnership with MaishaPoa, whose customer-focused insurance solutions align with SasaPay’s mission of financial inclusion. Together, they are helping small business owners protect their families while building resilient enterprises.
At the helm of this transformation is Stephen Kaguchia, Managing Director of SasaPay, whose visionary leadership has been instrumental in making the program a reality. Kaguchia has championed digital innovations that redefine access to financial services, ensuring that even grassroots traders can benefit from modern financial protection.
The Trader Welfare Program not only safeguards traders against life’s uncertainties but also sets a new benchmark for inclusive financial solutions in Kenya. It underscores the power of strategic partnerships and innovation in uplifting communities, proving that when businesses thrive, livelihoods are transformed.
