Meru, Kenya – The National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), led by Chief Executive Officer Roy Sasaka Telewa, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the County Government of Meru to operationalize the NGAAF–Meru County Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Rescue Center.
The Rescue Center will provide a safe haven and support services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, marking a major step forward in Kenya’s fight against SGBV. It reflects CEO Sasaka’s commitment to building safer, more inclusive communities through collaborative, survivor-centered interventions.
Under the MoU, the facility will be fully operationalized to deliver critical services including immediate refuge, legal aid, medical treatment, psychosocial support, and reintegration pathways. The agreement also underscores the far-reaching impact of GBV on women, men, girls, boys, and children while strengthening partnerships to combat the vice across Meru and beyond.
Speaking during the signing, CEO Sasaka emphasized NGAAF’s holistic approach, blending protection, empowerment, and justice. He highlighted the importance of intergovernmental collaboration in achieving sustainable solutions.
“This Rescue Center will not only provide immediate protection but also stand as a symbol of dignity, resilience, and hope for survivors. Our goal is to ensure that no survivor of GBV is left without support, justice, and the opportunity to rebuild their life,” he stated.
The operationalization of the Meru GBV Rescue Center sets a precedent for county–national cooperation, showcasing the power of visionary leadership in addressing social injustices and advancing gender equality.
