ANN WAMURATHA DRIVES GRASSROOTS EMPOWERMENT IN KIAMBU THROUGH NGAAF

Kiambu County Woman Representative, Hon. Ann Wamuratha, fondly known as Mama County, has reaffirmed her dedication to uplifting communities by spearheading an extensive empowerment drive through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
Speaking at her Kirigiti office grounds, Hon. Wamuratha distributed Women and Youth NGAAF Empowerment Cheques alongside essential tools tailored to boost small businesses and improve livelihoods. The initiative targeted women, youth, and vulnerable groups, equipping them with resources to promote self-reliance and dignity.
Beneficiaries received chafing dishes for catering enterprises, blow dryers and hair dryers for salon owners, shaving machines for barbers, and juice extractors for vendors in the health drinks sector. To ensure inclusivity, white canes were issued to visually impaired community members, while blankets were handed to the elderly to enhance comfort and warmth.
Hon. Wamuratha emphasized that the program’s essence was not simply distributing items, but fostering sustainability. “This initiative is about creating real opportunities for our people. It is about enabling families to build businesses, generate income, and live with dignity. Together, we are nurturing a stronger, more compassionate Kiambu,” she said.
The empowerment drive has been lauded for its holistic approach—addressing economic, social, and welfare needs simultaneously. With NGAAF support, thousands across Kiambu are gaining access to tools that help them start or expand businesses, creating jobs and driving grassroots development.
