Ruiru MP Simon King’ara Foundation Boosts School Feeding Programs with Food Donations

Ruiru, Kenya – The Simon Ng’ang’a King’ara Foundation, led by Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara, has donated foodstuffs to schools in Biashara Ward to strengthen feeding programs and support learners’ wellbeing. Beneficiaries included Ruiru Boys Secondary School and Ruiru Girls Secondary School, among others.
The donations come at a time when many schools are grappling with the rising cost of living and limited budgets, which threaten the sustainability of meal plans. By supplementing school food reserves, the foundation aims to provide stability and ensure that learners remain focused on their studies without the burden of food insecurity.
Education stakeholders welcomed the support, noting that adequate nutrition is critical for concentration, academic performance, and overall student health. Teachers and parents lauded the initiative as timely and aligned with government efforts to strengthen school feeding programs in urban constituencies.
The King’ara Foundation has been at the forefront of community uplift projects, ranging from bursaries for needy students and youth empowerment programs to medical camps and support for women’s groups and small-scale traders.
Speaking during the handover, MP King’ara reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to investing in education and social welfare as part of building a resilient community.
“This initiative is about securing the future of our children. By supporting their nutrition and education, we are breaking the cycle of poverty and building a brighter Ruiru,” he said.
