Businessman Charged in KSh8M Spaghetti Importation Fraud

By Dennis Wanyonyi
Nairobi, Kenya – The Milimani Magistrate’s Court has set October 13, 2025 as the pre-trial hearing date for businessman Mohammed Khalif Hassan, who is accused of defrauding a fellow trader of KSh8.5 million in a fake spaghetti importation deal.
Hassan appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecution, Hassan allegedly obtained KSh8,512,700 from businessman Osman Mohamed Ali between February 18, 2023, and May 21, 2024, by falsely claiming he was in a position to import spaghetti. Court documents indicate he misrepresented his capacity to deliver the consignment, despite knowing the claims were untrue.
The court released him on a cash bail of KSh700,000 or an alternative bond of KSh2 million, backed by two sureties of equal value.
The defence is expected to challenge both the substance and scope of the allegations as the matter proceeds.
The case will be mentioned again on October 13 for pre-trial directions.
