Westlands Mp Tim Wanyonyi has today met with over a hundred Nairobi Bishops in his bid for the gubernatorial seat.
Wanyonyi in his speech said that he will not relent nor be intimidated to step down for anyone and that through his theme; ‘Kenya ni Baba, Nairobi ni Tim Wanyonyi’ he will triumph his rivals through the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
“I have started my journey and will not go for a lesser seat. I want to urge you to sell me out there without fear because already I’m a brand. Nairobi Governor is the most powerful seat in Kenya after the president and the deputy president,” he said.
He further asked the preachers to preach peace and tolerance which will in turn result into peaceful elections.
The bishops led by their Church and Clergy Association of Kenya national chairman Hudson Ndeda have called on Nairobians to vote humble and incorruptible leaders like Tim Wanyonyi.
The clerics have called upon the vocal politician to copy and paste the good work he has done for Westlands residents to the county for the two terms they believe Wanyonyi will reign in the country’s capital.
The bishops urged citizens to register as voters in Nairobi and not to travel upcountry come the elections period.
Speaking during meeting in a Nairobi hotel, Ndeda said, “I am calling for unity among all our congregants to avoid splitting of votes to champion the triumphant entry of Tim Wanyonyi to City Hall. I also want to encourage citizens to take votes because that’s the only weapon we will use to earn the victory we want in August 2022.”
The bishops pledged to vote Wanyonyi together with their families and congregants and that the church will not be silent in the build-up to the elections.
They also promised that they will be rooting for aspirants with good track records.
