Governor Sakaja Repossesses 18 acres of Public land from Land Grabbers.

The Nairobi County Government has reclaimed 18 acres of prime public land at Junction of Kiambu road and northern bypass from land grabbers.

The action was taken by City Hall enforcers with the assistance of police against the private developers who had encroached in the parcel.

โ€œThe land in question is County Government land for development of public facilities for use by local residents. The prime parcel of land was surrendered & set aside for development of public amenities which includes market, school, hospital, health facility, football pitch and social hall,โ€ Acting County Secretary, Patrick Analo stated.

Mr Analo also said that private developers had since developed two petrol stations, car bazaars, eateries, beauty shops, pharmacies, and other businesses in the said land.

A team of officers from the Countyโ€™s Urban planning department, Security Compliance & armed police were on site yesterday to issue demolition notices against the illegal developments.

โ€œThe County will move forward to demolish all illegal developments upon expiry of this enforcement notice issued in accordance to the physical and land use planning Act (PLUPA 2019) and the building code,โ€ Lands Chief Officer Cecilia Koigu stated.

Governor Sakaja Johnson has already established a task force of county officials with support from the National Lands commission, which is tasked with identifying and repossessing all public land in various parts of the city including Karen,Kasarani,
Tassia, Mwiki, Roysambu, Kilimani, Runda & all other affected areas.

โ€œRecently the County government demolished an illegal nursery school in Upperhill The county government has stopped all illegal development on public land in Tassia, Clay city & Kimathi estate in Eastlands.We call upon city dwellers with information on public land grabbed to volunteer to County Government so that its reposessed and developed for public use,โ€ Analo stated.
