The unveiling ceremony, led by Ababu-Terrah Namwamba, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, underscores the crucial role of the youth in shaping Kenya’s future.

With over 75% of the population under 35, the youth represent not only the present but also the future leaders, innovators, and drivers of progress.

The National Youth Council Strategic Plan is meticulously crafted to tap into this vast potential by equipping young Kenyans with the necessary tools, resources, and opportunities to thrive in today’s dynamic world. Focused on Participation, Representation, and Association, the plan aims to create an enabling environment where every youth can realize their full potential.

Addressing both strategic issues and key result areas aligned with national priorities and youth aspirations, the plan emphasizes inclusivity, particularly for marginalized groups and persons with disabilities.

The unveiling ceremony marks the culmination of extensive collaboration and input from various stakeholders. The government expresses gratitude to all contributors and anticipates deeper cooperation with youth and partners to actualize the shared vision outlined in the plan.

“In line with the Kenya Kwanza administration’s bottom-up economic model, championed by William Samoei Ruto, the President of Kenya, the plan heralds a new era of youth empowerment.

By harnessing the talent, energy, and creativity of young Kenyans, the government aims to foster a more prosperous and equitable society for all”, Ababu stated.

“This strategic compass is calibrated to cater to the diverse needs and aspirations of young people nationwide. From education and employment to health and overall well-being, this Strategic Plan pledges to advocate for youth centric policies and initiatives, that foster their holistic development and empowerment. As we embark on the implementation phase, I urge all stakeholders – governmental bodies, civil society organizations, private sector partners, and above all, our dynamic youth – to join hands with us in this noble endeavour”, Mr. Ismail Maalim Madey Principal Secretary State Department of Youth Affairs and Creative Economy

“We reaffirm our commitment to Amplifying the Youth Voice for the inclusion of youth in socio-economic and political activities, recognizing their indispensable role in shaping the development agenda. With proper mentorship and the right opportunities, our youth possess the limitless potential to become change-makers, positively impacting national development”, Ms. Sophy Nekoye Waliaula Chairperson – Youth Advisory Board National Youth Council.
