In the wake of the recent demonstrations that have swept across Kenya, the Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA) has stepped forward to offer vital psychological support to survivors and their families. Established in 1988, KCPA is an umbrella body for counsellors and psychologists committed to mental health and well-being in the country.
KCPA extends its heartfelt condolences to the individuals, institutions, organizations, residents, communities, and families who have lost loved ones during these tumultuous times. The Association also wishes a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries in the unrest.
In response to the emotional and psychological toll of the demonstrations, KCPA has established a dedicated hotline number, 0726-068933, to provide debriefing and psychological support. Starting June 27, 2024, this service will be available on weekdays, offering a lifeline to those in need. Individuals requiring support are encouraged to call or send a text message to the hotline for consultation and assistance.
Recognizing the significant demand for psychological services, KCPA is calling for volunteer counsellors and psychologists to join their efforts. Professionals willing to volunteer can submit their names to Madam Deputy Chairperson via contact number 0722-873288. Volunteers will be integrated into the support team to deliver essential psychological services to affected individuals.
KCPA CEO Mr. Moffat Kago can be contacted at [email protected] for further information or to facilitate the smooth provision of these critical services. The Association aims to ensure that all affected individuals receive the support they need during this challenging period.
