Nairobi ODM MCAs have thrown their support behind the proposed dialogue between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, urging the younger generation to embrace this initiative as a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in Kenya. Led by Majority Leader Peter Imwatok, the MCAs expressed optimism that a multisectoral dialogue would address the nation’s pressing issues and prevent further political unrest.

Imwatok praised Raila Odinga’s lifelong dedication to peace in Kenya, describing him as a leader who has consistently prioritized the nation’s well-being. “Baba is a peace-loving leader. When he agrees to come together with President Ruto and other sectors, along with our Gen Zs, it is a noble thing. Let’s engage in spaces like X, but we must also support this multisectoral approach so that they can listen and act on our concerns,” he stated.

Imwatok highlighted Raila’s significant contributions to Kenya’s political landscape, noting, “In 2002, his declaration of ‘Kibaki Tosha’ ended four decades of the KANU regime. In 2007, his decision to forgo the presidency, which he rightfully won, saved Kenya from civil war.”

President Ruto has called on various stakeholders to submit their representatives by today to participate in the dialogue. “We have had consultations and agreed that, to bring the country together and focus on issues of priority, we will move ahead with the multisectoral forum,” Ruto announced.

The MCAs believe that by bringing together leaders from various sectors and generations, this dialogue will pave the way for a peaceful and prosperous Kenya, addressing the concerns of all citizens, including the youth.

In the face of ongoing political tensions, the call for dialogue between President Ruto and Raila Odinga represents a significant opportunity to unite the nation and chart a course towards a more stable future. The support from Nairobi’s ODM MCAs underscores the importance of this initiative and the potential it holds for fostering peace and development in Kenya.
