Rarieda Member of Parliament Dr. Hon. Otiende Amollo is being touted as the leading candidate for the position of National Assembly Minority Leader. This seat was previously held by Opiyo Wandayi, who has been nominated by President William Ruto to serve as the new Cabinet Secretary for Energy, replacing Davis Chirchir.
Dr. Amollo is a seasoned academician and a distinguished Senior Counsel. Known for his dedication and hard work, he has earned a reputation as one of Kenya’s most diligent legislators. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Amollo is also a devoted family man, being the proud father of triplets.
His extensive public service includes his tenure as Chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice (Ombudsman) since 2011, and previously as Chairperson of the International Commission of Jurists, Kenyan Section. He has also been honored with the prestigious title of Elder of the Burning Spear of the Republic of Kenya, recognizing his contributions to the nation.
The role of Minority Leader is the third highest in the National Assembly’s hierarchy, following the Speaker and the Majority Leader. Dr. Amollo’s distinguished career and his unwavering commitment to public service have positioned him as a leading contender for this significant role.
Others being considered for the Minority Leader seat include Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Seme MP James Nyikal, Nyando MP Jared Okello, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Makadara MP George Aladwa.
