Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u, Chairperson of the Kenya National Association of Private Colleges (KENAPCO), delivered a powerful and inspiring keynote address at the Pacesetters Awards Gala held at the Argyle Grand Hotel on Friday evening.
The event, which celebrates excellence across various sectors, drew notable representatives from South Africa, South Sudan,Ghana,Zambia , Zimbabwe and our great country Kenya emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration in fostering innovation and success.
In her speech, Dr. Ndung’u highlighted the critical role of building distinctive and authentic brands in today’s fast-paced, attention-driven economy. She urged organizations to focus on creating memorable brands that not only stand out but also possess the resilience to endure over time. “In a world where public relations are essential for sustaining a brand, it’s crucial to offer what you promise and be genuinely committed to your values,” Dr. Ndung’u emphasized.
She further addressed the challenges faced by the sector, particularly in terms of securing funding and assembling effective teams. Dr. Ndung’u stressed the importance of mentoring young talent and staying ahead through innovation and technology. “One of the greatest challenges we face in Africa is garnering support, especially from the government. Yet, it’s through innovative thinking and leveraging new technologies that we can overcome these hurdles,” she remarked.
Dr. Ndung’u also spoke on the strategic importance of selecting the right brand partners and ambassadors, cautioning that ongoing vigilance is necessary to remain competitive in the market. “Someone else is always thinking harder; hence, we must always be prepared and think on our feet,” she added, underscoring the need for continuous adaptation in a dynamic environment.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Ndung’u shared her vision for a sustainable future, calling for the creation of institutions that not only succeed in the present but are also equipped to thrive for the next century. “We must build institutions that not only succeed today but are also capable of thriving a century from now. This involves being genuine, innovative, and forward-thinking,” she concluded.
