The national youth council,Nyc,has today received over 34,000 KN95 face masks meant to be distributed to vulnerable youth countrywide.
Speaking at the Nyc offices in Nairobi on Wednesday,the Nyc Ceo Roy Sasaka,said that it was important to ensure that youth are geared with protective equipment and health,to prevent covid-19 pandemic.
“I must state that Kenya is a youthful country as 75% constitutes of young people,hence this donation is a great boost to our youth,”Sasaka stated.
Sasaka added that the pandemic requires a combined action,as well as meaningful engagement and participation of young people,to be addressed effectively.
On his part,the ict ministry Cs Joe Mucheru who was present to receive the donation on behalf of youth,said that the initiative aligns with the government’s pandemic fight and aligned to the Nyc mandate and outlook for the year 2021.
“This noble idea and as government we must support it,youth must be taken care of , because they play pivotal role in the fight against this pandemic,”Mucheru added.
National Youth Council is a state corporation in the ministry of ict, innovation and Youth affairs,which came into being through the enactment of the Nyc Act (2009) as the official voice of the Youth.
