“Our community has witnessed too many tragic losses due to successful suicide attempts,” Maingi stated. “This month is an opportunity to shine a light on mental health issues, to encourage open dialogue, and to offer support to those in need.”

Maingi’s remarks come amid a broader national effort to improve mental health awareness and support systems. She urges all individuals, regardless of their roles in society—whether social, religious, or educational—to prioritize conversations about mental health and to create environments where individuals feel safe seeking help without fear of judgment.

As a member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Maingi is calling for increased engagement with counseling services, utilization of online mental health resources, and encouragement of honest discussions about mental health challenges. Her call to action highlights the need for collective efforts to prevent suicide and offer hope to those at risk.

“Let us use this month to embrace mental health awareness, engage in supportive conversations, and actively work towards preventing suicide,” Maingi urged. “By doing so, we can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health issues.”

The MP’s advocacy aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance mental health resources and support systems within the constituency and across the country. As communities come together to observe Suicide Prevention Month, Maingi’s call to action underscores the vital role that awareness, compassion, and proactive support play in addressing this critical issue.
