Police in Wundanyi in conjunction with the red cross have retrieved two bodies of two young pilots who died when the aircraft they were flying in hit a tree at Vuria hills near Mwangeka caves in Wundanyi Sub-county Taita Taveta County.
The two a woman and a man were flying from Nairobi to Mwatate.
TopNews.co.ke has learnt that ,the young man was a senior medical officer in Makueni County and he was training as a pilot while the woman was flying instructor from Flight Training Centre in Mombasa.
The bodies were brought to Ikanga Airstrip in Voi early today and flown to Mombasa and Nairobi respectively.
A member of the late doctor Lugogo Athman Kasuku’s family told TopNews.co.ke that, the two were flying to Saltlick hotel in Mwatate at the time of the accident.
Taita Taveta County police boss Patrick Okeri confirmed the incident saying that they were informed of the accident by the public.
Police preliminary investigations showed that the plane hit a tree and then down to Mwangeka caves which are near Vuria Hills.
Police say that the scene has been secured while investigations are being carried on by the relevant authorities.
