Garissa township MP Aden Duale has urged the Selection Panel for the appointment of the IEBC commissioners to fast track the exercise and embark on the important task ahead of them.

According to former national assembly majority leader, it was important that the four commissioners start preparing for the 2022 general election among them the infrastructure.

On Saturday, the selection panel shortlisted and published the names of 36 individuals from a pool of 660 applicants who had expressed interest in the positions.

“it is unfortunate that we are still here talking such an important body like IEBC that is not fully constituted with almost a year to elections. that having said. we hope the exercise is quickly so that those who will occupy those offices can embark on the task ahead of them,” said Duale.

Duale who was speaking in his Garissa town on sartuday 12th June,during the bursary disbursement for financial year 2020/2021 to secondary schools ,however called on the selection panel to make sure that it get the best individuals for the slots noting that Kenyans were keenly following the development.

“just like any other Kenyan it is my hope and prayer that the panel led by their very able chairperson Elizabeth Muli will get us the right people. we want individuals who are patriotic and with integrity. people who will not plunge this country into chaos because of their actions,” said Duale.

In a statement ,Muli assured Kenyans that the panel will discharge its mandate with utmost fidelity to the constitution, warning any candidate who will attempt to influence the process will be disqualified.

“Any attempt by a candidate to canvas or otherwise influence the selection process will automatically disqualify the candidate from the process,” she warned.

“A psychometric test shall be administered on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11am at the KICC. Oral interviews, incorporating a case study shall be conducted between July 7 and 22 at the KICC,” Muli said.

The panel invited members of the public to submit written memoranda or any information of interest with respect to the suitability of the shortlisted applicants.
The memoranda should be received by June 25, 2021 to enable the panel to scrutinize them.

“It is notified that the selection panel may interview any member of the public who submits a memorandum on any of the applicants,” Muli added.

Muli assured Kenyans that the panel will discharge its mandate with utmost fidelity to the constitution, warning any candidate who will attempt to influence the process will be disqualified.
