Elders and businesspersons hailing from Migori want city lawyer Holly Edward Okwama to give a run for the county’s Senatorial seat in the upcoming August 9 general elections.
Speaking to the press early today in Nairobi, through their spokesperson Dennis Omondi, the elders stated the veteran Lawyer was the best bet for the seat.
“He is a straight foward and a God-fearing man, he is a performer and with good leadership skills which is why we are advocating for his phillosophy,” he said.
He added that the current leadership needs a man with a clean record for good governance.
“Senator Ochillo Ayacko has done his part and now its time to get some new blood Into the leadership of Migori,” said Omondi.
A priest, Mark Okemba, said that lawyer Okwama has never been involved in any corruption allegations attributing this to his strong religious affiliation in the catholic faith.
The elders drawn from Suna East, Suna West, Nyatike and Rongo constituencies aim to have the lawyer secure the ODM nomination ticket which will guarantee him election into parliament.
When reached for comment, Okwama said it was time to transform the county to greater heights in terms of governance.
“We need to lead this county as early as tomorrow. Our people need good roads, hospitals, quality education and even employment,” he said.
He said that Migori is a rich county with great resources that when well utilized it can make the lives of everyone better.
