Utalii ward representative Wilson Ochola has asked Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu to explain the source of her campaign funds.
The MCA has questioned the drastic change in the operations of the city governor,stating that her high level political activities are suspect.
Ochola told journalists at City Hall that Kanunuโs political forays which include the endorsement from Njuri Njeke could be at the expense of the taxpayers money.
โ All of a sudden Kananu has money to run around the city and compete with the likes of Wanyonyi and Ngatia?โ Ochola questioned
He wondered why suppliers are still lamenting non payment of their dues yet the county continues to receive funds from the treasury.
โThousands of suppliers are still roaming around City Hall yet the governor is in a campaigning mood and seems to care less,โ Ochola added.
The legislator has also asked the governor to come clear on alleged diversion of more than Sh560 million staff fund to unofficial expenditures.
The City Hall staff had accused Kananuโs administration of failing to remit their statutory deductions and union dues despite making a requisition to the Controller of Budget.
This comes at the backdrop of reports that two City Hall officials arrested in Dubai over nonpayment of bills could face tough charges.
