Nairobi’s Jubilee Party Gubernatorial front runner who is also the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia will today hold a mega rally at his home turf of Kangemi in Westlands constituency in his continued vote hunting mission.
Ngatia will woo the voter rich area where he was born and raised as well as seek blessings to traverse the rest of the county in search of the county’s top job.
The area Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi is one of Ngatia’s main challengers for the seat but the business mogul has maintained a clear lead ahead of the city politician even as he advances the Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga campaigns, and his own, as the forth governor of the city and Raila as the fifth President at the August 9th, 2022 general elections.
Buoyed by his ever rising approval ratings and the popularity he has fast gained as one of the key leaders in the series of Raila Odinga popularisation campaigns, Ngatia will drive the Azimio la Umoja message as he seeks to capitalize from his home turf and just like it happened with leading presidential contenders Raila and William Ruto, Ngatia will today be released to go beyond Kangemi into the rest of the county.
Ngatia said that his planned mega rally at his Kangemi back yard today is where he will embark on an expansive tour of the city to sell his transformative agenda.
“I will hold a mega rally at Kangemi where I was born and raised this Sunday. After I get the blessings from home, we shall now go round Nairobi preaching transformation because we are tired of what is happening in Nairobi. We must have change that will see the city have a final transformation into a smart city,” Ngatia said.
“I am born here in the City and I am an experienced businessman, manager and decision maker, the combination ensures I know the City Problems and their solutions,” said noted.
I sometimes view Nairobi like a failed business entity which needs to be brought back to live. For instance, we have only one Fire Station serving the City, we need more stations in fire hotspots and high population areas, I want to assure our people that I will offer solutions,” Ngatia noted.
Just a week ago, Ngatia visited the residents of Kangemi who lost their homes to a fire accident to share their grief and listen to them. “Kangemi is special to me, because it is where I was born and raised. It defines my childhood and memories, and the residents here are my parents, brothers, teachers, friends and my extended family.
My team and I were able to give out food stuff, beddings and other basic amenities that will help ease their suffering, even as we work out a plan to resettle them. I offered to pay alternative houses for the victims for a period of one month as we work on a long term solution,” Ngatia said following the Kangemi fire incident.
“As a necessity, and like in other fire hot spots in Nairobi, we will establish a Fire Station in Kangemi/Mountain View/Westlands Area. This will ensure fire incidences are controlled in good time to reduce loss of property and lives. As we have said in the past, we must seek to protect lives and property of our people,” he further said.
“We will continue to engage Nairobi residents on issues that affect them on a day to day life, and at it, ensure we address them effectively and comprehensively,” Ngatia added.
Today’s Kangemi rally is an important event for Ngatia who is seeking to take over Nairobi leadership as he will use the rally to remind Nairobians that he is a common Nairobi resident unlike many who are imports from their rural villages.
Ngatia, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to attract a huge crowd following the joining of efforts by the president and his handshake partner Raila Odinga.
