Just two weeks to Chamber President elections, Vihiga Governor Wilber Otichillo has become the latest high-profile leader to endorse Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Richard Ngatia for another term.
Ngatia who is the front runner on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Ottichillo with collaborations and the development of small and medium-size enterprises at the centre of their talks.
“I am delighted to report that the Governor of Vihiga showed us a great deal of hospitality and generosity, and pledged his endorsement of our candidature,” Ngatia said after the meeting.
The KNCCI boss said they are grateful for the governor’s support and look forward to working closely together to stimulate local economic growth and create more job opportunities for the residents of Vihiga.
Ngatia described the meeting as productive and exuded confidence their partnership will yield positive results for all stakeholders.
Ngatia was accompanied by his running mate businessmen Abdulwalli Shariff Ahmed and local leaders from Vihiga.
Ottichillo’s backing follows a similar endorsement for Ngatia from Council of Governors chairperson Anne Waiguru. Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has also endorsed Ngatia for reelection.
The KNCCI president has also been endorsed by leaders from the Lake Region, Western, South Rift, Mount Kenya, Lower Eastern and the Nairobi Metropolitan area.
Ngatia has also received a major boost following his endorsement from national leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
KNCCI will hold elections on June 8, with Ngatia seeking to defend his seat. He will face the chamber’s vice president Eric Rutto.
The two have ramped up their campaigns with Ngatia previously taking his “Team RN Nguvu Volcano Reloaded” to the Coast.
