Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Accused of Nepotism Receives Defense from Bunge la Wananchi

A section of the civil society group known has come forward to defend Nairobi City County Assembly Speaker Ken Ng’ondi against allegations of improper staff recruitment in the assembly.

The group believes that the lawsuit filed by the Concerned Citizen Alliance is politically motivated and should be dismissed by the courts.

According to Lawrence Oyugi of the Public Interest Group, who addressed the media on behalf of Bunge la Wananchi, they consider the accusations of nepotism in staffing as malicious and politically driven.

Oyugi pointed out that various agencies like the Public Service Commission have not raised any concerns regarding this matter, and he believes that the allegations are an act of blackmail and a political witch-hunt.

The speaker has been specifically accused of facilitating the employment of relatives of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

In response, Bunge la Wananchi is contemplating joining the case in support of the speaker
