Former Lamu Senator Faces Legal Woes: Forgery Charges and Financial Struggles

Former Lamu senator Anwar Oloiotiptip was on Thursday arraigned before Milimani law court and charged with three counts including forgery.

He however released on a cash bail of 700 ksh or a bond of 1 million after pleading not guilty to all the counts before Milimani magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.

Anwar who represented himself before the magistrate asked for lineiency saying he is currently bankrupt after losing last year election.

He also added that he has a young family and he intends to solve the matter out of court with the complainant.

According to the main count in the chargesheet it states that on the 3rd August 2022 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, without lawfully authority or excuse made a motor vehicle registration certificate purporting it to be a genuine motor vehicle certificate issued by NTSA.

The matter will be mentioned on the 13th of November 2023.
