Real Estate Set for Drastic Reforms-New officials Elect New Officials

Real Estate Sector in Kenya is set for huge reforms after the property developers elected new leaders that will spearhead the sectors agenda in the next one year.

The elections which were the first one’s in the real estate sector in Kenya saw Chairman Kinyua Wairatu retain his position in the Association of Real Estate Stakeholders (RESA).

Dominic Thuku of Home point Investment will deputise Wairatu.

The treasurer position was taken by Peter Gitau, Olive Limited. The position was previously held by Martin Watitu, FarmHold Adventures, who is now elected Coordinator.

Agnes Mwangi retained the secretarial position with Amos Wambo elected as vice secretary.

Perminus Kariuki of Nyota Njema Real Estate Ltd was elected Spokesperson of RESA association, succeeding Fred Kahura Managing Director Golden Dreams Land And Properties Limited.

Wairatu the Managing Director Maono Lands Limited who spoke after the polls to bring drastic changes promising to work closely with the government.

“Real estate players urge government involvement in crucial decision-making, emphasizing the importance of public participation, especially regarding tax increment. The association expresses a willingness to actively engage in the decision-making process,” said Wairatu.

Being the second year in office, Wairatu said he will also lead a campaign of restoring dignity in the sector.

“The association will have serious engagements with the people. We want to run a serious sensitization campaign where we will educate our people on the right steps to take when buying land. With proper sensitisation we know Kenyans will not fall into the hands of fraudsters,” said Wairatu.

Chairman also noted since the association came into place they have managed to restore confidence in a huge way.

“The truth of the matter is that we have restored confidence. Unlike the past, people are beginning to trust us and we can only hope that it will even be better in the future,” he said.

Wairatu said that the growing trust has been largely attributed to his efforts of ensuring that the association has a working office.

At the same time, Wairatu urged Kenyans to only purchase property from companies that are under the association.
