Parkland Residents Demands for Compensation After Stima Plaza Garbage Dumping

Parkland residents have petitioned Nairobi County Assembly demanding that they be compensated from health hazard posed to them by recent dumped garbage at Stima Plaza offices.

The residents in a petition says the garbage dumping by Sakaja Administration created a breeding ground for harmful bacteria,pathogens and pests leading to; increased risk of respiratory diseases,spread of vector-borne disease,contamination of environment and psychological discomfort.

“The residents of this area were not only subjected to an environmental and health crisis but we’re also denied the right to live in a safe and healthy environment.as such the residents are entitled to compensation for the inconveniences, distress and health concerns caused by the negligence in the wast management by the authorities.” The petition reads in part.

They want Nairobi County Assembly through Sectoral Committee on Health Services to move with speed and ensure their grievances are met promptly.

“We therefore urge the Nairobi County Assembly Sectorial Committee on Health Services to prioritize the Health and well being of its citizens and take immediate action to rectify this issue and ensure fair compensation for those affected.” The petition reads.
