Kenya Strengthens Diaspora Engagement with Australia and Pacific Region

Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, held a key meeting with Dr. Wilson K. Kogo, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Australia, to discuss issues affecting Kenyans living in Australia and the Pacific region.
During the courtesy call, Amb. Kogo highlighted the successes of Kenyans in the region, including their contributions in entrepreneurship, community integration, and professional sectors. However, he also pointed out challenges faced by Kenyans abroad, emphasizing the need for more structured government support.
PS Njogu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with the diaspora and enhancing their socio-economic well-being. She stressed the importance of collaborative approaches tailored to the unique needs of different diaspora communities.
The meeting also reviewed Phase IV of the Mobile Consular Services (MCS) program, recently conducted in Australia and New Zealand. The initiative has helped Kenyans access essential services such as passport renewals, legal documentation, and consular support, reinforcing the government’s proactive engagement with its diaspora.
With increasing recognition of the diaspora’s role in national development, the government aims to create more partnerships, better service delivery, and increased investment opportunities for Kenyans living abroad.
This engagement marks another step in Kenya’s ongoing efforts to prioritize and empower its diaspora communities worldwide.
