Kenya Dairy Board Ignites Nyandarua with County-Wide Roadshow to Boost Milk Quality and Farmer Prosperity

Nyandarua County — The Kenya Dairy Board (KDB) has rolled out a high-impact Dairy Roadshow across Nyandarua County, led by Board Chairman Genesio Mugo. The initiative is aimed at improving milk quality, promoting sustainable dairy practices, and strengthening the link between farmers and dairy markets.
Covering key dairy hubs such as Mairo-Ikumi, Ndaragwa, Gwa Kúngú, Leshau, Shauri, Ol-Jorok, Kasuku, Rurii, Tumaini, and Ol-Kalau, the roadshow brought together farmers, dairy stakeholders, and local leaders in an interactive knowledge-sharing campaign.
“This roadshow is about equipping farmers with the tools, information, and confidence to scale up quality dairy production,” said Chairman Mugo. “Nyandarua has incredible potential, and we are here to harness that power and drive national dairy excellence.”
Through field demonstrations, farmer education forums, and direct engagement, the Board addressed key issues such as milk hygiene, animal nutrition, disease control, and access to competitive markets. The roadshow also promoted best practices in handling and transportation to reduce post-harvest milk losses.
Local residents welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm, with many hailing it as a timely boost for the region’s dairy economy. Farmers expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact directly with KDB experts and receive actionable advice to increase yields and income.
KDB’s outreach reflects a broader strategy to transform Kenya’s dairy sector by empowering grassroots producers and ensuring quality from farm to market. With Nyandarua serving as a shining example, the board pledged to replicate similar roadshows across other dairy-rich counties.
The initiative reaffirmed KDB’s commitment to “moo-ving” the sector forward—community by community, cow by cow.
