Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Malaysia, following a productive engagement with the Malaysian High Commissioner to Kenya, Amb. Ruzaimi Mohamad. The meeting focused on enhancing tourism cooperation between the two nations and exploring new avenues for economic and cultural exchange.

A key highlight of the discussions was the recent launch of direct AirAsia flights between Nairobi and Kuala Lumpur, which both parties hailed as a game-changer in improving connectivity. “This development opens timely, convenient, and affordable travel for tourists and businesses alike,” noted CS Miano.

In a move to further promote Kenya’s tourism potential, CS Miano announced that the Ministry will partner with the Malaysian High Commission in the upcoming Diplomats and Expatriates Golf Tournament scheduled for 3rd May 2025 at the Muthaiga Golf Club. The event is set to position Kenya as a leading golf and sustainable tourism destination, with top-tier content creators from ASEAN member states—under Malaysia’s 2025 chairmanship—invited to document and share Kenya’s attractions across global platforms.

The Ministry and Malaysian High Commission will also coordinate tours for the ASEAN content creators to premier national parks, cultural centers, beaches, and museums. This initiative aims to boost Kenya’s visibility in Southeast Asian tourism markets.

CS Miano also confirmed Kenya’s planned participation in major tourism and travel expos in Malaysia this September, signaling a deepening of diplomatic and trade ties through tourism diplomacy.
