Not all revolutions begin in boardrooms—some are sparked in classrooms, community halls, and village gatherings. In Kirinyaga County, such a revolution is being led by Roy Sasaka Telewa, CEO of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), whose bold, community-first approach is driving real change.

With strong support from Kirinyaga County Woman Representative Hon. Njeri Maina, Sasaka is spearheading programs that empower the most vulnerable through education and economic inclusion. NGAAF’s bursary program is a lifeline for orphans, children with disabilities, and students from child-headed households—ensuring equitable access to education, especially at the foundational level.

But Sasaka’s vision extends far beyond classrooms. In a landmark economic push, NGAAF recently disbursed Ksh 8.5 million in seed grants to local groups. These funds are fueling table-banking circles, poultry farming cooperatives, packaging enterprises, and value-addition businesses, revitalizing Kirinyaga’s grassroots economy from the ground up.

“As the CEO of NGAAF, my duty is not just to fund potential, but to cultivate purpose,” Sasaka stated. “This is about systemic change—empowering people to drive their own transformation.”

Under his leadership, NGAAF has become a catalyst for inclusive development, particularly for women, youth, and marginalized communities. Through strategic partnerships and localized interventions, the fund is creating sustainable opportunities that anchor long-term prosperity.

Roy Sasaka Telewa’s work in Kirinyaga is proof that transformative leadership can ignite progress where it’s needed most. With continued support from partners and the community, NGAAF’s people-centered revolution is only just beginning—and the future looks bright.
