By John Kariuki
Kiambu County Woman Representative, Hon. Ann Wamuratha, has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots development through the successful rollout of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) programs in Juja Sub-county. The initiatives have significantly impacted local businesses and residents, fostering economic empowerment and self-reliance.
Focused on supporting small-scale entrepreneurs, the NGAAF programs distributed essential tools and resources tailored to diverse sectors. Beneficiaries received tents and chairs for community events, shaving machines for barbershops, welding equipment for artisans, blow dryers and hair dryers for salons, blankets for the elderly, as well as market trolleys, egg and sausage vending carts, chafing dishes, and umbrellas for traders. These interventions were designed to boost productivity, create jobs, and promote economic growth at the grassroots level.
The event was graced by several national leaders who have been strong supporters of empowerment programs. Among those present were Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, Majority Leader of the National Assembly; Hon. Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town MP); Hon. Eng. John Kiragu (Limuru MP); Hon. Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South MP); and Hon. Elijah Njoroge Kururia (Gatundu North MP). Their presence highlighted the collaboration between national and county leadership in driving community development.
In her remarks, Hon. Wamuratha expressed deep gratitude to all leaders backing NGAAF initiatives. She offered special thanks to Deputy President Hon. Kithure Kindiki and President William Samoei Ruto for their unwavering support in empowering communities through affirmative action programs.
The successful execution of NGAAF projects in Juja stands as a testament to Hon. Wamuratha’s vision of fostering sustainable development and economic independence across Kiambu County. By addressing the needs of local entrepreneurs and ensuring inclusivity, she continues to pave the way for a more prosperous, self-reliant future.
