PS Mwadime Urges Youth to Reskill and Embrace Emerging Job Opportunities

Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development, Shadrack Mwadime, has called on Kenyan youth to take charge of their futures by tapping into emerging job opportunities and reskilling for global competitiveness.
Speaking during a youth engagement forum, PS Mwadime emphasized the importance of being proactive, adaptable, and open to learning.
“We need young individuals who will steer our economic agenda,” he said, noting that while the local economy cannot absorb every job seeker, labour export presents a viable solution.
He encouraged students to observe, learn, and capitalize on their energy and ambition. His message was clear: waiting idly is not an option in a rapidly changing job market.
A key example of such opportunities is the Caregiving Training Program offered by Tafari Medical Centre. The program equips trainees with practical skills for both hospital and home-based care—an area increasingly in demand globally. The Ministry of Labour, under CS Dr. Alfred Mutua and PS Mwadime, has been promoting such reskilling programs as pathways to meaningful employment.
PS Mwadime remains optimistic about Kenya’s youth, praising their strong work ethic and urging them to seize new opportunities to improve their lives and contribute to national development.
